Bruno Wyndaele is a Belgian television producer, creator, host, and media entrepreneur. As co-founder and owner of De Filistijnen, he has played a defining role in shaping some of the most successful entertainment formats in Flemish television over the past three decades.
He is the creator and producer behind landmark titles such as Best Friends (Beste Vrienden), Bounty Hunters (De Premiejagers), and Eternal Glory (Eeuwige Roem), and was closely involved in the creation of the iconic quiz format The Smartest Person in the World (De Slimste Mens ter Wereld). Combining editorial instinct with an unmistakable on-screen presence, Bruno has often served both as creator and host—an unusual dual role that has made him one of the most recognizable figures in Belgian entertainment television.
Bruno began his career in media as a radio producer and host for Radio 1, while also working as a journalist for the Belgian magazine Humo. His first television work began in the mid-1990s at commercial broadcaster VT4, before joining the newly founded production company Woestijnvis in 1997.
At Woestijnvis, he stood at the cradle of several groundbreaking television programs, including Man Bites Dog (Man Bijt Hond), and helped shape a new era of Flemish television. With The Latest Show (De Laatste Show) and The Smartest Person in the World (De Slimste Mens ter Wereld), he contributed to the creation of a new and highly successful late-night tradition on Belgian public broadcaster **VRT>’s channel Eén.
In 2004, Bruno founded De Filistijnen, where he continued to build a remarkable track record of successful formats. Under his creative leadership, Best Friends, Bounty Hunters, and Eternal Glory became enduring network classics. Eternal Glory would go on to become an international success, with local versions produced in Germany, Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Poland.
In the wake of that international success, Bruno also co-founded Primitives, a TV format distribution company that has grown into one of the leading independent distributors of entertainment formats worldwide.
Alongside his entertainment work, Bruno has remained deeply committed to editorial storytelling across genres. He returned to his love of talk television with Summer Vibes (Het Zomert Met) and later produced the daily late-night show What a Day (Wat een dag) for VTM. In recent years, he has also expanded into documentary and scripted production, with projects including Baby Fever (Kinderwens), T<em>he Coroner (Wetsdokters), The Eye of the Needle (Door het oog van de Naald), and the drama series A Good Year (Een Goed Jaar).
His children’s animation series Mister Paper (Meneer Papier) received an Ensor Award for Best Animation Series and was subsequently launched internationally.
Since 2023, Bruno has returned to one of his first loves: radio. As a daily host on Radio 1’s Voorproevers, he continues to bring his signature curiosity and warmth to new audiences. Since 2024, he has also hosted the Belgian version of The Floor on VTM.
Beyond his own productions, Bruno has played an important role in supporting the wider Flemish audiovisual sector. Since 2016, he has been actively involved in VOFTP, the association of Flemish independent film and television producers, serving for many years as chairman
